Peveril Castle in the Peak District
Peveril Castle is an English Heritage venue, which means if you are an English Heritage member you get free access. It is a ruined medieval castle which overlooks Castleton Village in the Peak District. The Castle is mentioned in the Doomsday survey. They have a number of activities later in the year. Mow Cop Castle Cheshire
Located in the village of Mow Cop. There are stories this castle dated back to Roman times as there is some local evidence of Roman occupation. However it is more likely Mow Cop Castle was built as a summerhouse in 1754 for Randal Wilbraham the local Lord of the Manor. Currently it is a National Trust site, you can find out more here
